The Dale County Warriors faced off against Andalusia on Friday at the Tony Stallworth Invitational, a tournament featuring 12 high school boys’ basketball teams battling it out. The tournament, which began yesterday, is hosted by Brantley High School.
The Warriors held the upper hand at halftime but were unable to withstand a strong second-half push as Andalusia pulled away for a 57–50.
Dale County led 32–28 at the break after a solid first half that featured balanced scoring and steady defensive play. However, the Bulldogs adjusted coming out of halftime and gradually chipped away at the deficit, taking control in the final two quarters to secure the victory before the buzzer.
Jayden McGhee led the Warriors with a game-high 21 points, providing consistent offense throughout the contest. Junior Smith also contributed in double figures for Dale County, finishing with 11 points.
For Andalusia, Xavier Hourel paced the Bulldogs with 22 points, while Quez McMeans added 16 to fuel the second-half comeback.
Despite the loss, Dale County played a strong and highly competitive game, building an early lead against a tough opponent before ultimately falling short down the stretch. Next, the Warriors will take on Brantley tomorrow, Saturday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m.
