High schools around the state are gearing up for round two of the Alabama High School Athletic Association football playoffs Friday, November 14, including schools in our area.
Class 2A Ariton (9-2) has already had an impressive season as they move onto the second round of playoffs. The Purple Cats will travel to Lanett, AL, to take on the Lanett High School Panthers (9-3) Friday night with kickoff at 7 p.m. Ariton qualified for the second round of playoffs after dominating Washington County in the first round of the AHSAA football playoffs after winning that round 55-14.
G.W. Long High School (7-4) will host the Luverne High School Tigers Friday night at Rebel Stadium in Skipperville. The Rebels hope to break Luverne’s undefeated record as they work to move forward in the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Long High School qualified for this round after defeating J.U, Blacksher in round one last Friday with the Rebels’ 28-7 victory. Long High School hopes everyone will come out and support the Rebels as the work to progress to the next round of the state playoffs.
