ARITON—Musicians from across the community are being invited to dust off their instruments and join the newly organized Ariton Community Band as the town prepares to celebrate two historic milestones this summer.
The community band is being formed in conjunction with Ariton High School’s band program to perform patriotic music during Ariton’s July 25 celebration honoring both the 250th anniversary of the United States and Ariton’s 120th anniversary.
Organizers are encouraging local residents who play a band instrument, as well as alumni of the Ariton Band program, to participate in the special performance.
Rehearsals will be held each Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Ariton School Band Room, with the first rehearsal scheduled for Tuesday, June 30.
The community ensemble will work alongside members of the Ariton High School Band to prepare a patriotic program for the anniversary celebration. The event is expected to highlight both the nation’s semiquincentennial and the town’s rich history dating back to its incorporation in 1906.
Band alumni who have not played in several years are encouraged to participate, and organizers say the group is open to community members of varying experience levels who can play a traditional band instrument.
Those interested in joining are asked to complete the online registration form before the first rehearsal. A sign-up link and QR code have been made available through the Ariton Community Band announcement.
The performance will take place during Ariton’s July 25 celebration commemorating America’s 250th Anniversary and Ariton’s 120th Birthday, bringing together current students, former band members and local musicians for a unique community-wide musical tribute.
