ARITON—The Ariton FFA Chapter and the Ariton High School Purple Cats baseball team are joining forces to host a fundraising golf tournament on June 18, 2026, at Highland Oaks Golf Course in Dothan.
According to organizers, the annual tournament will serve as a major fundraising effort to help support both student organizations and cover essential club and team expenses.
Funds raised by the Ariton FFA officers will help support participation in the Alabama FFA State Convention, as well as leadership trips and educational opportunities throughout the year. Organizers said those experiences allow students to connect with peers, participate in workshops, and strengthen leadership skills that benefit the entire chapter.
The Purple Cats baseball program will use proceeds from the tournament to help prepare for the upcoming season and assist with remaining expenses from the current year. Coaches and school representatives said community support plays an important role in providing opportunities and experiences for student athletes.
Leigh Outlaw, Ariton FFA sponsor and agriscience teacher, encouraged community members to participate in the event.
“Dust off those clubs and join us for a day on the greens at the Highland Oaks Golf Course on June 18th, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start,” Outlaw said. “Lunch will be provided for all players, and we will also have some great door prizes to give away. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just in it for the ‘birdies,’ we’d love to see you there. Every swing supports the Ariton FFA and the Varsity Baseball Team.”
Outlaw added that the deadline to register a team is Wednesday, June 10.
Local businesses and community members are invited to sponsor a hole during the tournament for $150 per hole. Sponsors will receive visibility during the event while also supporting student programs and youth development in the community.
Tournament organizers said donation confirmation letters can be provided for tax purposes upon request.
