The Ariton Lady Cats couldn’t hold onto a double-digit halftime lead Tuesday night, falling 44–34 to Northside Methodist Academy after a tough second-half slump.
Ariton controlled the pace early and led by 10 at the break, but Head Coach Whitehurst said the team “came out flat in the second half,” noting that defensive intensity dropped while the offense went cold. Missed opportunities at the rim and hesitation on open looks allowed Northside Methodist to climb back and take over late.
Despite the loss, several Lady Cats turned in strong performances. AC Free recorded another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Macileigh Bragg added 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Madolyn Hudson finished with 8 points and 9 boards. Brynlee Peters rounded out the scoring with 1 point.
Ariton will look to regroup and regain momentum as they prepare to take on New Brockton on the road this afternoon (Friday, 12/12).
