Ariton’s offense erupted early and never let up Thursday, powering the Lady Cats to an 8-2 victory over Geneva in a wire-to-wire performance.

Geneva struck first with a run in the top of the opening inning, taking advantage of a sacrifice situation to grab a brief 1-0 lead. Ariton answered immediately in the bottom half, putting together a decisive response that set the tone for the rest of the game.
Madolyn Hudson delivered the key blow in the first inning with a two-run single, giving Ariton the lead. Brynlee Peters followed with an RBI groundout, extending the advantage to 3-1 by the end of the frame.
The Lady Cats continued to build momentum in the second inning. Macileigh Bragg drove in a run with a single down the right field line, and Molly Snell added another RBI on a groundout, pushing the lead to 5-1.
Ariton added to its cushion in the third when Beth Dixon battled through a lengthy at-bat before singling to center field to score another run, making it 6-1.
Dixon took care of the rest from the circle. The Ariton pitcher turned in a complete-game effort, allowing four hits and two runs, one earned, over seven innings. She struck out eight batters and did not issue a walk, keeping Geneva’s offense in check throughout the game.
At the plate, Hudson led the way with two RBIs while going 2-for-3. Dixon and Hudson each recorded multiple hits as part of Ariton’s balanced offensive attack.
The Lady Cats also showed discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks. Lizzy Faircloth, Bragg, and Lizzie Woodfaulk each reached base twice via walks, helping Ariton consistently apply pressure.
Geneva managed four hits in the contest, with B. Conner leading the way with two. M. Turner and A. Adams each drove in a run for Geneva.
With the win, Ariton builds momentum heading into its next matchup, a road game against Houston County scheduled for Monday.
