Ariton–Fans, spectators, and certainly the Barbour County Jaguars heard the roar of the Purple Cats on Friday night. The Ariton Purple Cats delivered a dominant performance in area tournament action, overwhelming the Jaguars, 53–21, and advancing to the Area Championship game with ease.
Ariton set the tone early with relentless defensive pressure and efficient scoring, quickly building a comfortable lead that left little doubt about the outcome. Addison Senn led the Purple Cats with 15 points, while Easton Kilpatrick posted a strong all-around effort with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Titus Senn added 10 points, and Bryson Rhett chipped in nine as Ariton spread the scoring load and controlled the glass throughout the night.
Defensively, the Purple Cats limited Barbour County’s offensive opportunities, holding the Jaguars to just 21 points for the game. Rashoud Rogers paced Barbour County with eight points, but consistent scoring proved hard to come by against Ariton’s disciplined defense.
With the strong win, Ariton continues its push through area tournament play, carrying momentum forward as they take on the Abbeville Yellowjackets in Ariton on February 10, at 6:00 p.m. The Purple Cats have had a very strong season this year, but the question now is, can Ariton claim the Area Championship by defeating the Abbeville Yellowjackets? We will all find out on Tuesday night.
