BREWTON–The Ariton Purple Cats put together a strong all-around performance Saturday, defeating Brewton’s T.R. Miller High School on the road. The 10-2 victory came thanks to timely hitting and highly effective pitching.
Ariton broke through in the second inning, taking advantage of early opportunities to grab control. Addison Senn delivered a single down the right field line, and a defensive miscue by T.R. Miller allowed another run to score, giving the Purple Cats an early edge.
The offense continued to build momentum in the third inning. Senn added another hit, while Bryson Rhett contributed a double as Ariton extended its lead and kept pressure on the Tigers’ pitching staff.
The Purple Cats added to their advantage in the fifth when Bryce Odom launched a solo home run to left field, further separating Ariton from T.R. Miller.
On the mound, Ridge Hicks earned the win with a solid outing. He allowed just two hits over four scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one. In relief, Senn was dominant, tossing two hitless innings while striking out five and issuing one walk.
Ariton finished with 11 hits on the day, with multiple players contributing at the plate. Senn led the way with three runs batted in and went 2 for 4. Wells Ganey, Brodie Lowery, and Rhett each recorded two hits, helping fuel the offensive surge.
Defensively, Ariton turned a double play to limit opportunities for the Tigers.
For T.R. Miller, Gus Lee led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, while Owen Hines drove in a run. The Tigers also turned a double play in the contest.
Ariton’s balanced effort on both sides of the ball proved to be the difference as the Purple Cats secured the strong victory Saturday.
