ENTERPRISE— An Elba man has been arrested in connection with a shooting Friday evening in Enterprise that left one man injured and sent gunfire into several vehicles and at least one business.
The Enterprise Police Department announced Saturday, Aug. 8, that Ja’vonte Griggs, of Elba, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building.
The arrest stems from a shooting reported at approximately 5 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Morgan Square Mall.
According to Enterprise police, officers responded after receiving a report of shots fired. One male victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown at the time of the department’s initial release.
Police said several vehicles and at least one business were struck by gunfire during the incident.
Before the arrest was announced, Enterprise Police Department Criminal Investigation Division detectives were seeking information about three possible suspects described by investigators as Black males who may have been traveling in a black Chevrolet Camaro.
The department has not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the shooting or the allegations against Griggs.
“The Enterprise Police Department would like to thank the…agencies for their assistance and cooperation during this investigation,” the department said.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies. In announcing the arrest, Enterprise police thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Daleville Police Department, Elba Police Department, and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
The department said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
