OZARK — The Dale County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) will once again host its popular free “Ladies Firearms Safety Class” later this month. The free class is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of firearm safety, handling, and Alabama gun laws.
The class is scheduled for Thursday, March 26, at 5 p.m. and will be administered by Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum and members of the DCSO.
The training will take place at 583 Bivins Drive in Ozark, next to the Ozark Dale County Humane Society.
According to information released by the DCSO, the course will cover a variety of gun safety topics with the goal of helping participants safely and confidently handle firearms. Instruction will include firearm safety, safe storage practices, an overview of Alabama firearm laws, and the fundamentals of shooting.
Organizers add that the course is intended to provide practical knowledge and hands-on instruction for women interested in learning more about responsible firearm ownership and use. The DCSO has hosted several similar classes in the past, and officials say those sessions have been well attended and successful.
Participants attending the class are asked to bring 50 rounds of ammunition, hearing and eye protection, and a baseball-style hat. Officials also note that space for the class is limited and early registration is encouraged as they expect spots to fill up quickly.
The event is free to attend.
