ARITON — Ariton’s pitchers delivered a dominant performance Tuesday as the Purple Cats combined for a shutout in a 7-0 victory over the Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats.
Two Ariton pitchers teamed up to keep Trinity Presbyterian off the scoreboard, limiting the Wildcats to just three hits over the course of the game.
Left-hander Addison Senn earned the win for the Purple Cats after working three solid innings. Senn allowed three hits while striking out four batters and walking two without giving up a run.
Conner Davidson came on in relief and closed the door for Ariton, securing the final out on a fly ball to end the game.
Ariton got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning, capitalizing on a Trinity Presbyterian error to take the initial lead.
The Purple Cats added to their advantage in the third inning when Easton Kilpatrick blasted a solo home run to left field to extend the margin.
Kilpatrick helped lead the offensive effort with two hits, while Bryson Rhett also collected two hits for Ariton. Kilpatrick, Pierce Gill, Senn, and Brodie Lowery each recorded an RBI in the win.
Defensively, the Purple Cats played a clean game, committing no errors in the field. Wells Ganey anchored the defense with nine plays.
Trinity Presbyterian’s John Michael Cox led the Wildcats at the plate, finishing with three hits in four at-bats. The Wildcats also turned a double play during the contest.
Ariton will return to action Thursday when the Purple Cats host the New Brockton Gamecocks.
