DOTHAN—Authorities are investigating a suspected homicide after a dead body was discovered Saturday morning at a residence on Mauldin Drive in Dothan.
According to the Dothan Police Department, officers responded to the scene during the 8 a.m. hour, where they located the victim in the yard of a home. Officials said the circumstances surrounding the death are being treated as a homicide, although the exact time of death has not yet been determined.
Police reported finding shell casings close by, indicating the possibility of gunfire. Investigators spent the morning canvassing the area, speaking with nearby residents, and gathering evidence.
Major Will Glover provided details at the scene Saturday morning, confirming the ongoing investigation and noting that officers are working to piece together what led to the incident. He was joined at the scene by Lt. Ronald Hall, a senior investigator with the department.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, nor have they confirmed whether the individual lived at the residence where the body was found.
The investigation remains active, and officials said additional details will be released as they become available.
