The Dale County Warriors came up short on the scoreboard on Saturday but earned individual recognition during the Tony Stallworth Christmas Invitational, falling 66-54 to the Brantley Bulldogs in tournament play.
Dale County was led offensively by Jayden McGhee, who poured in 21 points to pace the Warriors. Junior Smith added 10 points in the effort as Dale County worked to keep pace throughout the contest.
Brantley was powered by a strong performance from Devin Melton, who finished with a game-high 29 points. Julius Sylvester followed with 14 points, while Jackson Mitchell chipped in 11 to help secure the win.
Despite the loss, Dale County had a bright spot to celebrate as McGhee was named to the Tony Stallworth Christmas Invitational All-Tournament Team, recognizing his standout play throughout the event.
