OZARK — The Carroll High School girls’ track and field team turned in a strong overall performance at the Queen of the South meet, finishing second as a team while recording multiple top-10 individual finishes across a wide range of events.
Leading the way was Sydney Riggins, who delivered one of the top performances of the day with a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Teammate Olivia Rollins also competed in the hurdles, placing fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the 300-meter event.
In sprint events, Alexis Thomas paced Carroll in the 400 meters with a sixth-place finish, followed closely by Aerial Johnson in seventh and Cayden Jefferson in ninth. The 200-meter dash saw Zuri Steele place seventh, while Sanaya Jackson added an eighth-place finish.
Carroll’s relay teams also played a key role in the team’s success. The Lady Eagles secured a second-place finish in the 4×100 relay and followed that with a third-place showing in the 4×400 relay.
In field events, Zuri Steele continued her strong day by earning a third-place finish in the long jump. Dominique Lynn contributed valuable points with third-place finishes in both the javelin and shot put, and added a record-breaking performance in the discus, setting a new school mark with a throw of 89 feet, 7 inches. Kennice Stallworth also competed in the discus, placing seventh.
With contributions across both track and field disciplines, Carroll’s depth proved to be the difference as the Lady Eagles compiled enough points to secure a second-place overall team finish at the meet.
The strong showing highlights Carroll’s competitiveness early in the season and sets the tone for upcoming meets as the Lady Eagles continue to build momentum.
