OZARK — Excitement is in the air at Carroll High School as the varsity girls and boys each prepare to compete for the AHSAA Class 5A Area 4 titles, with both programs entering the week riding strong postseason momentum.
The Lady Eagles will host tonight, Monday, February 9, at Carroll High School, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. The championship matchup caps an impressive area tournament run for Carroll, which has leaned on disciplined defense, balanced scoring, and steady execution in high-pressure moments throughout postseason play.
Carroll’s girls, who have a perfect 4-0 region record and a 17-6 overall season record, have shown their ability to control tempo and capitalize on key stretches, a theme that has defined their recent victories. The Lady Eagles have consistently created scoring opportunities in transition while limiting opponents through aggressive perimeter defense and strong rebounding, elements that have carried them to the brink of an area crown.
Several team members have earned honors this season through their strong gameplay. Zymirra Glanton scored her 1,000th career point earlier in the season and is being courted by several college basketball programs that hope to have Glanton join their ranks.
Frankasia Glover is another standout, having recently snatched her 500th career rebound during the Lady Eagles’ recent game against Pike Road. Glover’s ability to clean the glass and rebound missed shots has certainly helped the varsity girls in this season’s success.
These are just two examples of honors that team members have achieved. After the championship game, we will provide a more detailed report on the Lady Eagles’ honors and achievements.

The boys will look to follow suit on the road when they travel to Eufaula on Tuesday, February 10, for the AHSAA 5A Area 4 championship game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
The Eagles enter the title game playing some of their best basketball of the season. Carroll’s boys, who have recorded an 18-8 season, have surged through the area tournament behind suffocating defense, sharp ball movement, and contributions across the lineup. In recent outings, the Eagles have built early leads by setting the tone defensively and maintaining composure, even as the stakes have increased.
Both championship games carry major postseason implications, as area titles often serve as a springboard into the next phase of AHSAA playoff action. With a girls championship at home and a boys title on the road, Carroll has a chance to put an exclamation point on a memorable week for the program.
