Carroll High Lady Eagles Soar Above Abbeville High Yellowjackets

The Carroll High School Lady Eagles continued their strong start to the season Tuesday night, defeating the Abbeville Yellowjackets, 61–49, behind a fast start, balanced scoring, and what head coach Johnson called the team’s most complete effort so far.
“We came out with high energy, and the starters really set the tone for us,” Johnson said after the game. “But I’m really proud to say everyone who got in contributed to the win. I’ve been big on getting everyone involved early and playing team ball this year, which is really different from what they did last season.”
A major bright spot came from Carroll’s post players, who responded after slower performances in last week’s home games. Johnson said she challenged them to “be present when they’re on the floor,” and they answered that call.
Forward Frankasia Glover delivered a standout night with 8 points and 11 rebounds, while Zuri Steele added 7 points and 8 rebounds, helping the Lady Eagles control the paint throughout the game.
Meanwhile, Zy Glanton continued her dominant run, leading Carroll with 21 points and 4 assists. Glanton is now closing in on a major milestone — her 1,000th career point.
Makynzye Bonner contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Heaven Douglas chipped in 7 points and 4 rebounds, rounding out a true team effort.
This was “a great team win,” Johnson said. “Everyone played their part.”
The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to the upcoming Luverne Thanksgiving Classic, where they’ll face Enterprise on Thursday, November 20, before taking on Highland Home on Saturday, November 22.
