The Carroll High School Lady Eagles dug deep Monday night, rallying late in the fourth quarter to secure a hard-earned victory over Providence Christian in a game that swung back and forth from start to finish.
Carroll stormed out to an 8–0 lead, but Providence quickly settled in and began matching the Eagles’ intensity. After watching Providence struggle offensively in a recent game against Dothan, Carroll’s Coach Johnson said she fully expected a different level of shooting against her team — and that’s exactly what she saw.
“We scouted them vs. Dothan and they couldn’t get any shots to fall,” Coach Johnson said. “I knew they would make some, and that’s exactly what happened. Those young ladies played hard, and the game was back and forth.”
Free throws proved to be Carroll’s biggest obstacle on an otherwise strong offensive night. The Lady Eagles got to the line frequently but left 33 points unclaimed. Still, despite the struggles at the stripe, they persevered.
“We were down the entire second and third quarter and didn’t break away until late in the fourth,” Johnson said. “But I am proud of the fight my team showed.”
The turning point came from a spark off the bench as freshman Cy’Niyah Snell delivered a breakout performance. Snell poured in 10 points and racked up eight steals, injecting the defensive energy Carroll needed to finally pull away.
The night also brought a major milestone: senior guard Zy Glanton entered needing 15 points to reach 1,000 career points — and she surpassed it. Glanton finished with 25 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, and just one turnover in a standout performance.
“Zy hit her 1,000th career point tonight,” Johnson said. “She surpassed it scoring 25, and that’s huge — especially with only one turnover as a point guard. That’s a great stat.”
Carroll also saw another strong contribution from Makynzye Bonner, who added 15 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds while continuing her stretch of reliable scoring.
On the boards, Frankasia dominated the glass, hauling in 15 rebounds and adding 8 points, providing crucial second-chance opportunities throughout the night.
With the comeback win secured, Coach Johnson said she’s proud of the fight and strength the team continues to show.
“It’s just great to be a Carroll Eagle,” she said.
The Lady Eagles will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup as they travel to take on Barbour County on December 2, at 5:30 p.m.
