The Carroll High School Eagles came up short in both games of a Saturday doubleheader against the Beauregard High School Hornets, falling 14-3 in the opener and 12-0 in the second game in Opelika.
In the first matchup, Beauregard’s offense set the tone early and remained consistent throughout, building a sizable lead behind a steady flow of baserunners and timely hitting. The Hornets plated 14 runs in a strong all-around performance, with production spread across the lineup as multiple players contributed to the scoring effort.
Carroll managed to break through with three runs, highlighted by a home run from Z. Vincent. Jeremy Brown and J. Del Rosario each scored a run for the Eagles, accounting for Carroll’s offensive output in the opener.
The second game saw Beauregard continue its momentum, combining effective pitching with disciplined at-bats to secure a 12-0 shutout. The Hornets again showcased depth at the plate, with several players crossing home as they gradually pulled away.
Carroll struggled to generate offense in the nightcap, as Beauregard’s pitching staff limited opportunities and prevented the Eagles from establishing any sustained threat.
With the sweep, Beauregard improved to 10-6 on the season and extended its winning streak to four games. Carroll fell to 6-13-1 and will look to regroup in its next outing.
The Eagles are scheduled to travel to Pike Liberal Arts in their next game, while Beauregard will face Elmore County as it aims to keep its momentum going.
