Members of the track and field team turned in several standout performances during a meet held Saturday, March 7, at Carroll High School, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes, a state ranking, and several school records.
Junior Nashawn Godwin delivered one of the most notable performances of the day in the boys’ triple jump. Godwin recorded a leap of 44 feet, 11 inches, which now ranks seventh in the state of Alabama and first among athletes in Class 5A.
The Eagles also celebrated continued success from Dominique Lynn, who continues to rewrite the school record book. Lynn now holds the Carroll High girls’ records in the shot put, discus, and javelin events, marking a significant milestone in her career and adding to what has already been a strong season for the standout thrower. Carroll coaches praised the athletes’ early-season performances and continued improvement, noting the team’s focus on “attitude” and “mindset” as key to their success.
The Eagles will return to competition on March 13, which is when they travel to Andalusia for their next meet.
With multiple event wins and a top-10 state ranking already secured, Carroll will look to build on its early-season momentum as the season progresses. 🦅
