Residents who use chainsaws for storm cleanup, property maintenance, or land management will have an opportunity to learn important safety practices during a free educational workshop later this month in Ozark.
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host a “Chainsaw Safety 101” lunch-and-learn seminar on Thursday, March 26, at the Dale County Extension Office in Ozark.
The workshop will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will focus on safe chainsaw operation and techniques that can help prevent serious injuries. Participants will learn about proper personal protective equipment, as well as safe handling methods commonly used during storm cleanup, tree pruning, land management, and other “spring cleaning” work.
Organizers say the training is designed for both homeowners and individuals who regularly use chainsaws as part of property maintenance. The session will emphasize practical safety steps that can reduce risk when operating chainsaws, especially following severe weather events when many residents may be clearing fallen trees and debris.
Lunch will be provided for attendees who register online by March 24.*
