OZARK — City officials have announced the opening of a temporary warming shelter to provide relief for residents during the current period of cold winter weather.
The shelter will operate at the Colvin Center, located at 125 Apple Circle, and is scheduled to open at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 16. The facility will be open overnight on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday evenings, serving residents through the morning of Tuesday, January 20.
Each night, the shelter will open at 6 p.m. and close at 8 a.m. the following morning. Doors will close promptly at 9 p.m. nightly, and no admittance will be permitted after that time.
City officials encourage individuals in need of a warm, safe place during overnight hours to take advantage of the shelter during its operating dates, particularly as temperatures are expected to remain low throughout the weekend. Forecasts call for lows in the 30s and 20s beginning this weekend and continuing through at least Tuesday.

In addition to the city’s designated warming shelter, Ridgecrest Baptist Church. located at 1971 Deese Road, is open tonight, Thursday, January 15, through Friday, January 16 at 8 a.m.
