The Claybank Master Gardeners recently joined forces with surrounding local Master Gardener groups, including visitors from Florida, for “Go Gardens Day” hosted by Dothan Area Botanical Gardeners. The event brought together plant enthusiasts and community members to celebrate gardening, education, and environmental stewardship.
Claybank Master Gardeners hosted a special station focused on the importance of pollinators and the critical role they play in home gardens and agriculture. Visitors learned that pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and even wasps require access to fresh water to survive and thrive.
As part of the hands-on educational experience, Claybank volunteers helped participants create pollinator watering stations designed specifically for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. The simple but effective stations highlighted an easy way homeowners can support pollinators in their own landscapes.
In addition to the pollinator exhibit, several Claybank Master Gardeners assisted with other stations throughout the event, including demonstrations on rose gardening and herbs. The day served as a fun and educational opportunity for the community to learn more about gardening while promoting the protection of vital pollinator species.
