OZARK — The Dale County Commission met Tuesday, February 24, for its regular twice-monthly meeting, unanimously approving a series of agenda items addressing facility improvements, administrative matters, and solid waste operations.
Among the largest expenditures approved was $29,721.08 for repair work on the Dale County Courthouse heating and air conditioning system. Commissioners said the repairs are necessary to ensure the continued operation of the aging HVAC system and to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
The commission also approved the annual renewal of alcohol license fees, a routine action required each year.
In other business, commissioners authorized $5,202 for the installation of a security system at the county’s Annex building. Officials said the added security measures are intended to enhance safety and protect county property.
Solid waste operations were also addressed during the meeting. The commission approved an agreement with MDI to retrieve trash cans from customers who are no longer paying for service, with the contract capped at $12,000. The move is expected to help the department recover county-owned equipment and improve overall efficiency.
Additionally, the commission approved $12,500 for remodeling the front office area of the county government building. The renovation is expected to improve workflow and update the space for staff and the public.
All items on the agenda were approved by unanimous vote.
The Dale County Commission holds its regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, with a work session beginning at 10 a.m. before the formal meeting. Meetings are held at the Dale County Ad/Plex/government building located at 202 Highway 123 Ozark Alabama.
