The Dale County Emergency Management Agency is cautioning residents to stay alert as a cold front approaches the region, bringing the potential for isolated severe storms late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
In an official announcement, the agency noted that “there is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for isolated severe weather Tuesday night into Wednesday morning from an approaching cold front,” based on current weather and radar projections.
The EMA outlined the primary hazards expected with the system, stating that the main threats include “strong–damaging gusts, a tornado or two, [and] hail in the tallest storms.” While the risk remains on the lower end of the scale, officials emphasize that even marginal setups can produce quick-developing severe weather.
The announcement also highlighted the potential for some beneficial rainfall. “We’re looking at some much-welcomed rainfall, though forecast amounts remain unimpressive,” the agency said, adding that showers and storms may begin arriving in the Alabama Wiregrass as early as this afternoon.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely and ensure they have reliable ways to receive warnings, especially overnight.
