The Dale County Revenue Office is reminding residents that Alabama vehicle registrations may only be renewed during the assigned renewal month based on the first letter of the vehicle owner’s last name.
For July, residents whose last names begin with L or P are eligible to renew their vehicle tags.
The annual renewal schedule is as follows:
- January: A and D
- February: B
- March: C and E
- April: F, G, and N
- May: H and O
- June: I and M
- July: L and P
- August: J, K, and R
- September: Q, S, and T
- October: U, V, W, X, Y, and Z
- October/November: National Guard, commercial, and fleet vehicles
Vehicle owners must be residents of Dale County to renew their registrations through the Dale County Revenue Office. Anyone who has moved outside Dale County must register their vehicle in the county where they now reside. Residents who need to update the address listed on their renewal notice or current registration should contact the Revenue Office before renewing.
Vehicle tags may be renewed online at dalecountyrevenue.com or in person at the Dale County Courthouse, located at 100 Court Square in Ozark.
Renewals are also available at the following satellite offices:
- Ariton City Hall: Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (no cash accepted)
- Pinckard City Hall: Mondays and Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (no cash accepted)
- Daleville City Hall: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (no cash accepted)
The Revenue Office notes that satellite offices are closed during November and December.
Officials also remind residents that taxes on used vehicles are paid in advance from the time of registration until the assigned renewal month. Since Jan. 1, 2016, taxes on new vehicles have been collected at the time of registration rather than being deferred.
