OZARK — The stands were packed and the arena was full of excitement as the Dale County Sheriff’s Office hosted its 2nd Annual PCA Pro Rodeo over the weekend, drawing a large crowd of spectators and competitors for two nights of rodeo action.
Sheriff’s officials described the event as a major success and credited the strong turnout from the community for helping make the rodeo one of the highlights of the weekend.
“What a weekend,” the Dale County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement following the event. “The Dale County Sheriff’s Office PCA Pro Rodeo was a huge success, and we want to thank everyone who came out and packed the stands. Your support and excitement are what make this event so special.”
Organizers also extended their appreciation to the sponsors whose support helped make the rodeo possible, noting that the event would not happen without their continued backing. Vendors were also recognized for contributing to the festive atmosphere throughout the event.
Behind the scenes, numerous staff members and volunteers worked to ensure the rodeo ran smoothly, from coordinating events in the arena to assisting attendees throughout the venue. Officials also highlighted the efforts of event parking personnel, who helped guide vehicles in and out of the grounds safely and efficiently despite the large turnout.
Competitors from across the region took part in the Professional Cowboy Association-sanctioned rodeo, competing in multiple events for titles and prize money. The sheriff’s office congratulated all of the participants and event winners who showcased their skills in the arena.
Medical agencies also remained on standby throughout the rodeo to ensure the safety of both competitors and spectators.
The second night of the event presented an additional challenge when a large storm moved through the area, bringing heavy rain and hail. Despite the weather, the rodeo continued as planned, and many spectators stayed in their seats to watch the action unfold.
“Night two even brought a massive storm and a little hail, but the show went on and the crowd stuck it out right along with us,” the sheriff’s office said.
Officials said additional highlights and recaps from the weekend will be shared in the coming days as they continue reflecting on the success of the event.
The rodeo has quickly become a growing tradition for the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, combining professional rodeo competition with community engagement and family-friendly entertainment for residents across the Wiregrass.
