MIDLAND CITY —The Dale County High School boys soccer team closed out its 2026 season with a balanced offensive attack and steady contributions across the roster, highlighted by standout performances from several senior leaders.
The team performed very well overall, securing a record of 11 wins with only 3 losses despite having several games canceled due to referee shortages and unforeseen circumstances.
“The team set out a goal to become region champs, and they succeeded in every way,” head coach Mike Heer said. “I am proud of them for their on and off-field success.”
Leading the way for the Warriors was senior forward Cody Jaggers, who finished the season with 24 goals in 14 matches, averaging 1.7 goals per game. Jaggers also took an incredible 85 shots over the season, leading the team in shots taken. He proved to be one of the most consistent scoring threats on the field, accounting for a significant portion of the team’s offensive production.
Senior Thomas Taylor also delivered an impressive season, recording 12 goals and a team high 11 assists, averaging nearly 1 assist per game. Taylor’s ability to both score and create opportunities made him a key playmaker, averaging nearly one assist per game.
Midfielder Miguel Flores added depth to the attack with two goals and a team-leading seven assists, while A. Freeman contributed one goal and two assists, giving the team additional versatility in the midfield.
Defensively, the team relied on experienced players like Gage Cain and Claude Camp, who logged heavy minutes throughout the season. Both players appeared in all 14 matches, helping anchor the back line and maintain structure during tough stretches of play.
Additional contributions came from Deaglan Gay, who scored three goals and added four assists, and Dio Quintanilla, who chipped in one goal and one assist during his freshman campaign. Gunner Sconyers led the team in goals against average, with his season stats at 3.048 GAA.
While the team’s scoring was led by its upperclassmen, younger players gained valuable experience. Freshmen such as Wesley Rogel, John Skinner, and Brantley Rogel saw action during the season, while others like Oneal Stovall and Louis Hernandez also contributed.
Goal scoring beyond the top contributors was limited, with the team totaling just a handful of goals outside of its primary offensive leaders. However, the distribution of assists and minutes played reflects a team effort and a willingness to involve multiple players in the attack.
In total, Dale County finished the season with a core group of seniors carrying the offensive load, several underclassmen are prepared to return next year after gaining meaningful minutes and experience with the foundation in place for continued growth heading into next season.
As the program looks ahead, the experience gained by its younger roster members could play a key role in shaping the team’s future success.
