Daleville Jazz Band earns Superior Ratings at State Assessment

DALEVILLE — The Daleville High School Jazz Band delivered an impressive performance at the held April 21 at , earning Superior ratings across the board and continuing a strong season for the program.

According to Daleville High School Band Parent Association representative Magen Cafiero, the group showcased both technical precision and musical expression during the annual evaluation, which brings together school jazz ensembles from across the state.

“The Daleville Jazz Band had an outstanding performance,” Cafiero said. “We’re proud to share that they earned all Superior ratings at the event.”

The ensemble performed a selection of classic and contemporary jazz pieces, highlighting the group’s versatility and the individual talents of its student musicians. Cafiero noted that the performance reflected the band’s dedication and growth throughout the school year.

“Some of the musical selections performed included a mix of classic and contemporary jazz pieces that highlighted both the strength of the ensemble and individual musicianship throughout the group,” she said.

The Alabama Jazz Assessment serves as a key benchmark for school jazz programs, offering adjudicated feedback from experienced judges and an opportunity for students to perform in a formal concert setting.

Cafiero said the recognition is a testament to the hard work of the students, directors, and supporters who have contributed to the band’s success this season.

“We are incredibly proud of this group and everything they have accomplished this season,” she said.

As the program continues to grow, the Daleville High School Band Parent Association is also working to meet future needs. Cafiero said efforts are currently underway to raise funds for new band uniforms, an important investment as participation and performance opportunities expand.

Additional details, including photos from a recent festival in Ozark and the names of the pieces performed at the assessment, as well as videos of the performances, are expected to be released in the coming days.
