A federal jury in Dothan has convicted a 38-year-old Dothan man on the charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Larenta Deshawn Dawkins was found guilty on December 4, 2025, following a trial that detailed an investigation into drug trafficking activity across Houston County. According to evidence presented in court, the investigation began in July 2024 when law enforcement agencies started tracking suspected shipments of methamphetamine being delivered to Dothan from out of state.
Investigators determined that Dawkins had been receiving packages containing methamphetamine and storing the drugs in a local storage unit. When officers executed a search warrant on the unit, they discovered two boxes holding roughly five pounds of methamphetamine along with three bags of marijuana.
Agents later searched Dawkins’s residence, where they reported finding multiple items tying him directly to the storage unit and the packages.
A sentencing date has not yet been set. Dawkins faces a maximum possible sentence of life in federal prison. Federal sentences do not include the possibility of parole.
The case was investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Chelsea Wilson and Joel Feil prosecuted the case.
