OZARK— A longtime staple of the Ozark dining scene will soon close its doors, as the owners of El Palacio announced today that the restaurant’s final day of operation will be April 30.
In a message shared on social media, owners Ben Brown and Kevin Smith said the decision comes with “heavy hearts,” marking the end of an era for a business that has served the community for decades.
“Our last day of operation will be April 30th,” the owners wrote. “In these remaining days, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate with our customers and staff and relive the many great memories shared by all at El Palacio over the years.”
For many in Ozark and the surrounding area, El Palacio has been more than just a place to eat. Generations of families have dined there since it first opened its doors in the 1960s, creating lasting traditions and cherished memories around its tables. From family dinners and celebrations to casual meals with friends, the restaurant and its staff, some serving there for many years, have long been woven into the fabric of the community.
The owners reflected on that legacy in their announcement, expressing deep appreciation for those who supported the restaurant throughout the years.
“Serving this community has meant more to us than words can express,” the statement read. “We are deeply grateful for every customer, employee, friend, and family member who has supported us and been part of our story. El Palacio has been more than a restaurant to us — it has been a place of friendship, tradition, and unforgettable moments.”
In the final weeks leading up to the closure, Brown and Smith are encouraging customers to visit and celebrate the restaurant’s history together.
“Thank you for allowing us to serve you and be part of your lives,” the statement continued. “We hope you will come see us before April 30th as we celebrate the memories we have all made together.”
A source close to the matter says employees were just told of the upcoming closure today.
The closure of El Palacio marks the end of a beloved local institution, one that has left a lasting impression on the Ozark community and the many families who made it part of their lives.
