ENTERPRISE— The Enterprise Police Department has arrested a 25-year-old Enterprise man in connection with the fatal shooting Sunday night at Brookdale Apartments.
According to a Monday announcement from the Enterprise Police Department, Deontae Johnson, 25, of Enterprise, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Cornell Memorial Davis, 23, of Enterprise.
The arrest follows an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division into the Aug. 9 shooting.
Police said Johnson was identified as a suspect during the investigation and was taken into custody without incident.
In addition to the murder charge, Johnson was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail following his arrest.
The shooting occurred Sunday evening after Enterprise police responded at approximately 7:40 p.m. to Brookdale Apartments in the 100 block of Apache Drive following a report of shots fired. Officers found an adult male deceased inside an apartment from an apparent gunshot wound.
The department previously reported that the suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.
During the investigation, Enterprise police also responded to the Morgan Square Mall parking lot, where officers discovered a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. Investigators determined the Morgan Square Mall shooting and the Brookdale Apartments homicide were connected.
The Enterprise Police Department said the investigation remains active.

As with all criminal charges, Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
