EUFAULA — The Carroll High School Eagles hosted Eufaula Friday night, with the Eagles’ JV boys battling through four quarters but ultimately being unable to keep pace late as Eufaula pulled away in the second half to secure a 63–22 win Friday night.
The game opened as a tightly contested matchup, with both teams locked in defensively. Carroll and Eufaula were tied 12–12 at the end of the first quarter, as the Eagles matched the Tigers’ energy and limited scoring opportunities on both ends of the floor.
Momentum shifted in the second quarter, when Eufaula found its rhythm offensively. The JV Tigers outscored Carroll 24–2 in the period, taking a 36–14 lead into halftime. Foul trouble and Eufaula’s ability to convert at the free-throw line began to factor heavily as Carroll worked to adjust defensively.
Eufaula continued to build its advantage in the third quarter, extending the lead to 53–22. The Tigers used defensive pressure, transition scoring, and second-chance opportunities to keep Carroll from mounting a sustained run.
Despite the deficit, Carroll continued to compete in the fourth quarter, matching Eufaula point for point in the final period. Both teams scored 10 points in the quarter, but the Tigers’ earlier surge proved too much to overcome as they closed out the 63–22 victory.
Carroll’s offense was led by #15 Jevin Robinson, who finished as the Eagles’ top scorer with six points, while #11 James Harris added five points. Carroll rotated multiple players throughout the game, showing depth and effort despite the final score.
Eufaula was paced by balanced scoring, with the Tigers’ #5 J. Thomas and #10 J. McCray each adding 12 points to lead the Tigers. Their consistency on the offensive end helped Eufaula maintain control throughout the second half.
Carroll will look to build on its strong opening quarter and fourth-quarter response as the Eagles continue area play later this week. The Eagles host Pike Road on January 27.
