OZARK — Students interested in taking the stage for the Ozark City/Dale County Performing Arts production of Disney’s “Frozen The Musical” will have an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming production during an interest night Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Flowers Center in Ozark.
Frozen Interest Night is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will provide students and families with information about the production, the audition process and requirements, as well as what participants can expect from the Ozark City/Dale County Performing Arts program.
The production is open to Ozark and Dale County area students in grades seven through 12.
“Come check out what we are all about!” organizers said in announcing the upcoming opportunities.
The Sept. 22 event follows Play Recruitment Day, which was held Sept. 14. During that event, the production director and board members traveled to area schools to introduce students to the production and encourage them to participate.
Additional dates are scheduled as the production moves toward auditions.
An Audition Prep session is scheduled for Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Flowers Center. The session will allow prospective performers to receive assistance with their audition material and prepare for the formal auditions.
Frozen auditions are scheduled for Oct. 17, beginning at 9 a.m. for cast members. Dance auditions are tentatively scheduled to begin at noon.
The organization is also planning a fundraiser to help cover the additional expenses associated with bringing the production to the stage.
“Happily Ever After: Laughter” is scheduled for one night only at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Flowers Center. The variety show will feature Broadway songs, Disney songs and “SNL”-style skits, with adults and high school students participating.
Tickets are $10, with general admission available at the door. According to the event announcement, all proceeds will go toward the high school production of “Frozen.”
Brenda Shirley of the Dale County Council for the Performing Arts said the fundraiser is intended to help the organization meet additional production costs while creating a memorable experience for audiences.
“Here is your first opportunity to support Frozen!” Shirley said. “We have extra costs this year so that we can have the very BEST costumes, sets and special effects!”
Shirley said the goal is to present the best possible version of “Frozen” for the community, but doing so requires additional resources.
“We want to provide the best version of Frozen possible for our community, but that takes extra work and MONEY!” she said. “This fun show will be a fundraiser for all of those things!”
The organization is encouraging students in grades seven through 12 who are interested in acting, singing, dancing, or other aspects of musical theater to attend the Sept. 22 interest night and learn more about getting involved.
