Some Area Schools Closed Monday Due to Storm Damage
Several schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, as crews continue to respond to widespread storm damage throughout the area, school officials announced.
The Geneva City Board of Education said the closure is being made as a precaution while safety concerns persist, including downed power lines and roadways that remain blocked or unsafe for travel.
City and school officials are actively evaluating conditions and working to restore safe access across Geneva as cleanup efforts continue. Officials emphasized that the safety of students, staff, and families remains the district’s highest priority.
Schools that are expected to be closed on Monday include:
Barbour County, Eufaula City, Geneva City, and Geneva Head Start.
