Ozark—The Carroll High School Eagles began area play Tuesday as they hosted the Headland High School Rams. Unfortunately, it was a tough matchup to kick off area play for the Eagles.
While the first inning came up with no runs for either team, Headland was the first to put runs up on the scoreboard with three in the second inning. The Eagles were still within striking distance, but in the fourth inning, the Headland Rams added an impressive thirteen runs, all but ensuring victory.
Headland broke the game open with a 13-run outburst in the fourth inning, turning what had been a manageable deficit of 3 runs into a runaway result.
Carroll did not just throw in the towel. They kept fighting, and Carroll’s Zekayden Vincent provided a bright spot of action for the Eagles. Vincent finished a perfect 1-for-1 at the plate, highlighted by a double, his first of the season, and added two stolen bases.
Headland’s offense remained aggressive throughout, with Justin Parnell contributing to the surge by scoring three runs and swiping two bases for the Rams.
The loss drops Carroll to 7-13 for the season, while Headland continues its strong stretch, having won 12 of its last 15 games.
Carroll will have another chance as they travel to Headland for a rematch scheduled for Thursday at 4:30 p.m., giving the Eagles a quick opportunity to try again.
