OZARK—Her Haven, a local nonprofit dedicated to wellness, mentorship, and social outreach, is inviting community members to focus on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being during its upcoming Wellness Reset Day on June 27.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Magnolia Gardens, located at 201 East Avenue in Ozark, and will provide attendees with practical tools and resources designed to promote healthier lifestyles through education, exercise, and personal reflection.
According to organizers, Wellness Reset Day will feature a guided mental health session, beginner-friendly Zumba instruction, and a personal health planning workshop. Participants will also have access to community resources and light refreshments throughout the afternoon.
The Dale County Chronicle recently spoke with Her Haven Founder Cierra McLendon Berry about the inspiration behind the event and the organization’s broader mission of serving women and youth throughout Alabama.
“We are hosting the Wellness Reset Day because we believe wellness is more than physical health—it is emotional, mental, and spiritual restoration,” Berry said.
The event’s featured guests include Dr. Danielle Redding Peterman, who will lead the Zumba session, and Nurse Practitioner Angela Rodgers, CRNP, who will provide guidance on creating a personal healthcare plan and offer health-related advice.
Berry said while the organization is widely recognized for its work with foster youth, its impact extends far beyond that population.
“While Her Haven is known for helping foster youth, our services expand beyond that by empowering young women across Alabama through mentorship, financial literacy, career readiness, mental health support, and community resources,” Berry said.
Her Haven was founded after Berry recognized a significant need for support services and stable housing opportunities for young women facing difficult circumstances.
The nonprofit has since developed a transitional housing and personal development program designed to help break cycles of poverty, build confidence, and prepare women ages 18 to 25 for independent living.
The organization provides safe, rent-free container homes with city utilities, financial literacy and career readiness workshops, one-on-one mentorship, mental health support, and assistance with employment, education, and long-term life planning.
What began as one woman’s vision has grown into a community-driven initiative focused on helping young women establish stability and create brighter futures.
“Her Haven exists to provide hope, support, and resources for young women who need a safe place to grow, heal, and rebuild,” Berry said. “Every event we host is another opportunity to pour back into our community and remind women and youth across Alabama that they are not alone.”
Her Haven leaders describe Wellness Reset Day as an afternoon of restoration, reflection, and empowerment aimed at helping participants develop healthier habits and personalized wellness goals.
