The Daleville Warhawks boys’ varsity basketball team battled hard Thursday against Houston Academy but fell 63-42 in a what turned out to be a challenging matchup.
The game remained close for much of the first half, with Houston Academy leading 28-26 at the break. Daleville continued to stay within striking distance through the third quarter, trailing 37-33, but the Warhawks could not keep pace in the final period. In the fourth quarter, Houston Academy pulled away and ahead, securing the win.
“We just didn’t end the 4th quarter strong,” said Daleville Assistant Coach Jaren Jones.
MJ Flowers led the Warhawks with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Ja’veon McLeod added nine points and two rebounds. Despite the loss, Daleville showed resilience and fought hard throughout the game. The Warhawks (boys’ varsity and JV) take on Wicksburg in Daleville this afternoon, while the Lady Warhawks will face Houston Academy in an away game.
