New details have emerged following the discovery of two deceased individuals in Midland City.
Investigators now say a father shot his son before taking his own life.
Dale County Coroner John Cawley identified the victims as 62-year-old Gary Letcher and 39-year-old Dustin Letcher. Cawley also said he believes they had been dead for quite some time.
He said law enforcement discovered the bodies after a welfare check made by a relative living out of state.
A heavy law enforcement presence filled Gardenia Street in Midland City on Sunday evening after two individuals were discovered dead inside a residence.
Midland City Police Chief Powell, Dale County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Dale County Coroner John Cawley, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency troopers all responded to the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
