Fall is officially here, and with its arrival comes annual fall festivals. In Dale County, Midland City, Ozark, and Daleville will each host major community events in the coming weeks.
The celebration begins Saturday, Sept. 27, with the Midland City Railroad Festival, which is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Midland City, across from City Hall. The family-friendly event will celebrate the town’s railroading heritage with activities centered around trains, entertainment, and plenty of local vendors.
The following weekend, downtown Ozark will be alive with the 55th Annual Claybank Jamboree. On Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Square of Downtown Ozark will be the place to be. Organized by the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature live music on two stages, a baking contest, kiddie activities, arts and crafts activities and vendors, a car show, and much more. Festivalgoers can also enjoy a wide variety of food vendors and even take part in the “Farmer for a Day” program. In addition, Alabama peanut producers will hand out free fried peanut butter sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Musical entertainment will include acts performing at two different stages. At the Amphitheater on the Square, Loose Cannon and Darrell Qualls & The Outlaws will perform, while at the Farmers Market stage, Ariel Casey & The Vintage Revival Band will perform.
Daleville is our next stop on this tour of festivals. Daleville will host its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Culpepper Park, located at 290 Daleville Ave. The afternoon event promises food, music, games, inflatables, pumpkins, and a variety of local vendors.
Organizers of each festival say the goal is to highlight local culture, support small businesses, and provide opportunities for families to gather and celebrate the season.
