The Carroll High School Lady Eagles delivered one of their most explosive offensive performances of the season Monday, overpowering the Geneva County Bulldogs in a 21-2 victory.
Carroll wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for five runs in the opening inning and matching that output with another five-run frame in the second. The Lady Eagles then put the game completely out of reach with an 11-run third inning, showcasing a relentless offense that Geneva County could not contain.
In total, Carroll finished with 21 runs on 15 hits while committing two errors. Geneva County was held to just two runs without recording a hit and committed three errors in the contest.
In the circle, Anzley McInnis led the way with a dominant outing, striking out seven batters over three innings while allowing no hits and no earned runs, along with just one walk. Her performance kept the Bulldogs from generating any offensive momentum.
At the plate, Carroll’s lineup produced across the board, led by MaKynzye Bonner, who reached base in all four of her plate appearances. Bonner scored four runs, drove in four RBI, and added two stolen bases in a standout performance.
Cece Snell also played a key role in the offensive explosion, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored, three RBI, and two stolen bases.
The early offensive surge allowed Carroll to cruise through the remainder of the game, with the defense and pitching staff limiting any chance of a Bulldogs comeback. Geneva County’s only scoring came in the first inning, but the Lady Eagles quickly responded and never looked back.
The win marked a strong performance for Carroll and highlighted the team’s ability to produce runs in bunches.
With the victory, the Lady Eagles completed a season sweep of Geneva County, having previously defeated the Bulldogs earlier this year.
Carroll will look to carry that momentum into its upcoming games as the regular season continues. They will travel to Houston Academy on Thursday.
