The Carroll High Lady Eagles closed out regular-season area play in championship fashion Friday night, rallying from an early deficit to defeat the Eufaula Lady Tigers 46–36.
Eufaula struck first, jumping out to an early lead and setting the tempo in the opening minutes. Carroll, however, responded with poise and determination. The Lady Eagles settled in defensively, forced turnovers, and began to find their rhythm on offense, chipping away at the deficit as the first half progressed.
By halftime, Carroll had completely flipped the script, surging ahead 36–21 behind a strong all-around effort that showcased the team’s grit and perseverance.
The second half brought an energetic back-and-forth contest as Eufaula worked to close the gap. Carroll answered every challenge, continuing to battle on both ends of the floor to protect and build on its lead. Strong defensive stops and timely scoring helped the Lady Eagles keep control down the stretch.
When the final buzzer sounded, Carroll secured the 46–36 victory, sealing an unblemished 4–0 record in 5A, Area 4 play. With the win, the Lady Eagles were crowned Area 4 regular-season champions and earned the right to host the Area tournament championship in February.
Friday night’s performance underscored Carroll’s resilience and consistency, traits that could serve the Lady Eagles well as postseason play approaches. Carroll will host Pike Road on January 27 and Abbeville on January 30. Friday, January 30, will also be Senior Night for the Carroll Eagles.
