The Daleville Lady Warhawks faced a tough outing Tuesday night, falling 57-11 to the Headland Rams in varsity girls basketball action.
Daleville fought the whole game but struggled to find a consistent rhythm offensively, ultimately opening the door for the Lady Rams to take the win.
Kiani Schmitz led the Lady Warhawks in scoring, adding eight points to the team’s total against Headland. Schmitz, the team’s only senior, was recently honored at Senior Night at the game against Dale County. During that matchup, Schmitz recorded 12 points and 4 steals against Dale County.
Aaniyah Collins contributed on both ends of the floor Tuesday night, finishing with two points and three steals, while Anastasia Rubin battled inside to pull down six rebounds.
Following the game, the Dale County Chronicle spoke with Daleville girls basketball coach Deon Neal about the team’s focus heading into its next contests.
“We have to get back to the basics and do the little things better than our opponents,” Neal said. “Our plan has never changed; it’s always the same, which is to hustle, get all 50/50 balls, and bring the energy to every possession. Tonight we didn’t do that, and the reflection was as such.”
The Lady Warhawks will look to respond quickly as they host Slocomb on January 29 before traveling to Brantley on February 2.
