A group of Wiregrass volunteers spent Saturday giving back, teaming up to serve tasty hot dogs to first responders and members of the homeless community in Ozark and Dothan.
Dustin Clements, Tony Munguia, and others with TruGritBullies dog kennel, of Slocomb, partnered with Explicit Customs Car Club and the Roberta Rose Foundation for the outreach effort.
Clements said the idea came from wanting to share recent blessings. “We’ve been blessed lately, and I just wanted to return those blessings and give back to the community,” he said.
Tate’s Grocery in Hartford donated the hot dog meat for the event, which began in Ozark as volunteers delivered meals to first responders and local homeless residents. Once they finished there, the group traveled to The Harbor in Dothan to continue serving until every meal had been given away.
John Dasinger of Explicit Customs called the event a privilege. “It truly is a blessing to have people who step up to help those in need and to help the people who spend all their time helping others, such as our first responders — the real heroes,” he said.
The volunteers hope their efforts will inspire others to look for ways to make a positive impact in their own communities.
