DALE COUNTY, Ala. — A man remains in critical condition after a shooting in Dale County on Saturday, and authorities have charged a 22-year-old suspect with attempted murder as the investigation continues.
According to Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum, deputies responded to a shooting in the Ariton area near the intersection of Alabama Highway 51 and Dale County Road 11. The victim, who has not been publicly identified and was described by investigators as a Hispanic male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to the head.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a Dothan hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of Sunday.
Sheriff Bynum said investigators have charged Jacorian Martae Griffin, 22, with attempted murder. Griffin was booked into the Dale County Jail and is being held without bond pending court proceedings.
Authorities have not released details regarding what led to the shooting. While speculation on social media has suggested the incident may have stemmed from a road rage confrontation, investigators have not confirmed a motive and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Sheriff Bynum said that if the victim dies from his injuries, the charge against Griffin could be upgraded to murder.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
