The Claybank Master Gardeners held their annual spring plant sale on April 11, 2026, bringing together plant lovers and community members for a day of gardening inspiration. A wide variety of plants were available, including fresh vegetables, young trees, hardy shrubs, and a selection of houseplants to brighten any home.
The event offered more than just plants; it created an opportunity for gardeners of all experience levels to connect, ask questions, and share ideas. Members of the Claybank Master Gardeners were on site to offer advice and help visitors choose the right plants for their spaces.
Overall, the sale was a great success and a meaningful way for the group to engage with the community, promote gardening, and build new relationships with local residents.
Master Gardener plant sales serve as more than just an opportunity to purchase quality plants grown by our own local Master Gardeners, they are a vital fundraiser that directly supports local community projects, demonstration gardens, and educational outreach programs. Attendees had access to a selection of plants, along with the added benefit of expert gardening advice from trained Master Gardener volunteers.
Proceeds from the sale help sustain numerous impactful projects throughout the community. These include ongoing efforts such as the Vivian B. Adams Pollinator Garden, the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens Shade Garden, beautification of local Post Office flower beds, enhancements along the Ed Lisenby Lake Trail, and support for volunteer initiatives through the local Extension Office and 4-H programs.
In addition to their hands-on projects, Claybank Master Gardeners are deeply committed to education to support the Alabama Extension Master Gardener Mission. Members regularly serve as guest speakers and educators, and they provide support for field trips, science fairs, career fairs, demonstration gardens, and Library Lunch & Learn programs. Their outreach efforts continue to inspire and educate gardeners of all ages and experience levels.
The success of this year’s plant sale reflects both the dedication of Master Gardener volunteers and the strong support of the local community. Through plant sales like this, the Claybank Master Gardener Association continues to grow its impact, cultivating not only plants but knowledge, sustainability, and community connections.
