Mission: Worthy, a local outreach organization dedicated to serving families across the Wiregrass, brought the community together yesterday, November 26, at the Autrey Center for its first annual Wiregrass Community Thanksgiving—an event that provided hundreds of residents with a warm meal, fellowship, and much more.
According to the organization’s founder and public relations director, Julie, volunteers helped distribute more than 500 free meals, along with groceries and clothing to Wiregrass community members. The event was made possible by a large team of approximately 60 volunteers who donated their time, resources, and compassion.
“We were able to share a blessing of meals, groceries, and clothing free to the community,” Mission: Worthy said. “None of this would have been possible without the incredible volunteers who gave their time, resources, and love.”
Organizers described the event as not just an act of service, but a moment that strengthened bonds and brought people together.
“We started as strangers sharing the same mission, and we ended up united as a family,” the statement added. “You believed in the vision God placed in my heart and helped bring it to life. What we are creating together is something truly special.”
Mission: Worthy leaders expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the Thanksgiving outreach successful.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” the organization said.
Mission: Worthy continues to expand its presence in the Wiregrass, focusing on community support and meeting the needs of local families and individuals.
The W.C. Autrey Recreation Center, located on Reynolds Ave., in Ozark, is a division of Ozark Leisure Services and holds a variety of programs for the community year-round. After-school programs, tutoring, children’s enrichment activities, Zumba classes, and so much more are just part of the services the Autrey Center provides to the community.
