OZARK— Mixon Intermediate School has announced the appointment of Katie Hammock as its new assistant principal.
In a social media post, school officials shared the news and welcomed Hammock to her new leadership role. Hammock is already a familiar face on campus, having served for several years as a special education teacher at Mixon Intermediate School.
School leaders expressed excitement about the transition, noting that Hammock’s experience working with students and families has made a positive impact throughout the school community.
“Another familiar face at Mixon has a new role! Please welcome our own Katie Hammock as the new Assistant Principal to Mixon Intermediate School,” the school stated in its announcement. “Ms. Hammock has spent several years as a special education teacher, and we are excited to see her take on this new adventure!”
Hammock’s appointment comes as she moves from the classroom into school administration, where she will help support students, teachers, and daily operations at the intermediate school.
Faculty, staff, and community members have extended congratulations to Hammock as she begins her new role as assistant principal.
Hammock’s appointment as assistant principal comes after several changes in key personnel at Ozark City Schools. Former Carroll High School Principal Marsielena Williams has taken the helm as Ozark City School’s Superintendent after the departure of former Superintendent Reeivice Girtman. Ozark City Schools also recently announced their decision to appoint Daniel Barrentine as Assistant Superintendent, while Will Cammack will return to Carroll High School as principal, and Amand Melby will serve as principal at Mixon.
The Ozark City Schools Board of Education meets for its standard monthly meeting tonight at 5 pm at the OCS Student Resource Center. Their published agenda for tonight’s meeting includes personnel and routine financial matters.
