Mission: Worthy has organized a resource fair and celebration focused on neurodiversity, the concept that differences in human brain function, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and more, are natural variations rather than deficits.
The concept of neurodiversity maintains and celebrates that there is no single “right” way of thinking, learning, or behaving, instead recognizing the diverse strengths and challenges in how individuals experience the world. Neurotypical, on the other hand, is a term often used to describe an individual whose brain functions in ways that are considered standard or typical by society.
Experts from SpectraCare and Milestones will be available to share resources with families who have children and other individuals with neurodivergent conditions.
The superhero-themed event will offer educational resources and assistance in the following conditions: Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, and many more. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their favorite superhero shirt or costume to make the event extra fun.
To kick the event up a notch, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo, balloon artist, face painting, food, games, action-packed demos, and more. Mission: Worthy will also be distributing food to those in need during the event. A valid ID is required to obtain the groceries.
The event will be held at East Gate Business Park, located at 406 Ben St., Ozark, on April 11 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
