The Town of Newton has rescheduled its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony to Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, after expected inclement weather forced a postponement of the original Dec. 6 date.
Town officials said the parade lineup will now begin at 3 p.m. on Hartford Street near the intersection with College Street, beside the Newton Post Office. The parade is set to begin promptly at 4 p.m.
Immediately following the parade, visitors are invited to Heroes’ Memorial Park for the town’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, expected to start around 5 p.m. Vendors will be allowed to enter and begin setting up in the park starting at 9 a.m. Vendors interested in participating should reach out to the Newton Town Clerk at [email protected] or by phone at (334) 299-3361.
The town’s “Spirit of the Season” holiday decorating contest has also been pushed back. Judging will take place on Dec. 10, with winners announced after the parade on Dec. 13.
Town leaders encourage residents to update their holiday plans and join the community in celebrating the Christmas season on the new date.
