NEWTON — The James Marcus Rosser Newton Library and Museum is inviting children, teens, and adults to participate in a variety of educational and creative activities this summer, highlighted by a special appearance from nationally recognized pop artist Michael Albert.
The library’s 2026 summer programming, themed “Unearth a Story,” includes dinosaur-themed activities, movies, crafts, story times, and a hands-on art workshop designed for participants of all ages.
One of the library’s special featured events will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., when Albert visits Newton for a free, multi-generational collage workshop.
Albert, known for creating artwork from recycled consumer packaging such as cereal boxes and other cardboard materials, will lead participants through the creative process while encouraging environmental awareness through art. The workshop is open to children of all ages, including school-age children, teens, and adults.
Organizers are asking participants to bring clean, dry cardboard packaging, such as cereal boxes or coffee pod boxes, to incorporate into their projects.
The two-hour workshop is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Residents interested in learning more about Albert and his artwork can visit his website.

The June 6 Dino Hunt event will include hands-on activities, story time, lunch, dessert, and a movie. Organizers encourage children to wear clothing suitable for messy activities.

Library officials said the programs are designed to encourage reading, creativity, and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the summer months while providing family-friendly activities for the community.
